Tate is fighting choreography using performers' bodies and weapons for stage performances, movies and TV drama. There are Modern Tate for modern drama and Classic Tate for samurai drama, and we are teaching Classic Tate for samurai fighting scenes using Bokkens (samurai wooden swords) which is casually called "Chambara."

Tate is acting, so we are trying to show that the weapons really cut or hit opponents' bodies, and also prevent performers from injuries.

The excellent Tate requires not only the proper movement of the swords, but also the sophisticated mode of behavior including the posture, footwork, and smooth flow of the body movement.

Tate also requires the superb teamwork of each role including timing, technique and strength to make the fighting scenes look real, cool and impressive.

General Class is open to everyone regardless of experience. You will learn very basic sword techniques such as breathing, walking, gripping, swinging, stances, forms, Kiai and different combinations, Then you can try Kakari Keiko (a real attack between offense and defense). After you learn how to make fighting scenes EXCITING but SAFE, some sword fighting scenes will be individually choreographed depending on the student's level of experience.

Advanced Class is for the people who have mastered every basic technique. You will experience more and more exciting choreographs and complicated movements and forms. You will be trained as a performer for the stage.
